Annalography A line a day, year after year.

A small, private journal for a line or two each day. Every date keeps what you wrote on that day in other years, so today sits beside the same day last year and the year before. It stays on your own device, with no account and no AI.

What it’s like

A minute a day, and the years add up

Annalography asks for very little: a line or two about today. Come back next year on the same date and you’ll find this year waiting for you.

Three years on one page

Open it and today’s date is at the top, ready for a line. Underneath sit the most recent years you wrote on that same date, so the page always shows three years at a glance, and it keeps rolling forward as the years go by.

  • A soft “a line or two” guide, never a hard limit
  • An optional daily question, the same one on the same date each year
  • Show every year on a date whenever you like
  • Light and dark themes, or follow your phone

Write any year, skip any year

There’s no fixed start date and no blank boxes to feel bad about. Missed a year? Only the years you wrote appear. Want to fill in a memory from years ago? Pick the year under the date, or tap “Add a line for 2024”, and write it in.

  • Past years are always open for a line
  • Leap days are handled gently: February 29 still has company

Letters to future me

Seal a note for six months, a year, two years, or any date you choose. It waits as a sealed envelope, unread even by you, until that morning arrives. Then it opens on that day’s page: “A letter from you, written October 9, 2026.”

A calendar for every year

A solid dot marks the days you wrote this year; small hollow dots show the other years that share that date. Jump to any year, or see a whole year at a glance. Tap a day to read it or write it.

Find a memory in seconds

Remember the day at the lake, but not which year? Search looks through every line in every year at once, with your words highlighted. Type a few words in any order; capital letters don’t matter.

Kept safe, for years to come

A journal like this is meant to last, so Annalography looks after it. Save a backup whenever you like: one small file you can keep in iCloud Drive or Google Drive, or email to yourself. Restoring one adds its lines back without erasing anything.

  • Automatic snapshots on your device each day, with one-tap restore
  • A gentle reminder to back up, as often as you choose
  • Export everything as readable text, grouped by calendar day like a book

Your years are yours alone

Annalography was built so they stay that way. There’s no company server holding your lines, because they never leave your device.

Everything is kept in your browser on your own phone or computer. It’s never uploaded, so no one else can read it.

No account

Nothing to sign up for, no password to remember, and no email address to hand over.

No AI

Nothing reads, summarizes or rewrites your lines. Every word is yours.

On iPhone, adding it to your home screen also helps Safari keep your lines safe.

Questions

Good questions, plain answers

What does “Annalography” mean?

Annals are a yearly record of events, kept year after year. Annalography is the art of keeping yours: a line or two a day, side by side with the same day in other years.

Do I have to write every day?

No. Write when you like. Skipped days and skipped years simply don’t appear, and you can go back and add a line for any past date, in any year.

Is it only for three years?

No. Each page shows three years at a glance (this one and the two most recent years you wrote on that date), but it keeps going for as many years as you do. Tap “Show all years” to see every one.

Is it private?

Yes. Everything is stored only in your browser, on your own phone or computer. It’s never uploaded anywhere. There’s no account, no analytics and no advertising, so there’s no one to share it with.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit, Annalography opens and saves without an internet connection. Adding it to your home screen makes it feel just like any other app.

What happens if I get a new phone?

Your journal lives on the device you write on, so it won’t move over by itself. Before you switch, open Settings and save a backup. That’s one file holding every line and letter. Keep it in iCloud Drive or Google Drive, or email it to yourself.

On the new phone, open Annalography, go to Settings, choose Restore, and pick that file. Restoring never erases anything that’s already there. It can read Journalography backups, too.

How much will it cost?

Annalography is $9.99, one time, with no subscription. Try it free for 14 days first. No account or card needed for the trial.

What do I need to use it?

Just a web browser: Safari on iPhone or iPad, Chrome on Android, or Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a computer. There’s nothing to download from an app store.

Today has room for a line.

Write one now. Next year, it will be waiting for you.
